Pike County Partnership Against

Domestic Violence

During the month of April, sexual assault programs across the state and the nation will intensify their efforts to promote public awareness of sexual assault issues, such as child abuse and rape. They will stress the need for citizen involvement in reducing sexual assault and abuse against children and the importance of increasing community support for agencies providing sexual assault crisis and educational services.

In the United States April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities on how to prevent it.

Sexual violence is a major public health, human rights and social justice issue. We need everyone’s help to end it.  Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram for ways YOU can help raise awareness the entire month of April.

Prevention and Awareness Activities

Robin Riddle has been busy this month presenting Safe Dates to Pike County students. Safe Dates, a dating abuse prevention program was presented to middle school and high school students attending Piketon High School, Western Jr. High and Eastern Jr. High. Safe Dates raises students' awareness of elements that make up a healthy dating relationship and identifies red flags of abusive dating relationships.
The Partnership was also represented at Shawnee State University’s 2017 Job Fest.
